Sustainability Officer at Rentokil Initial. Former Editor of Concourse Student Newspaper and LLB with business management Graduate from Keele University and read Law and Buisness Management (Msc and LPC) at Exeter University through the Univeristy of Law. A motivated and energetic individual keen to demonstrate excellent communication skills and time management capabilities. An enthusiastic team player with experience in sustainability, legal outreach and event management with a passion for social good, current affairs and technology.
As a member of Exeter lacrosse club, I was not only a member of the men's 2's but also part of the mixed lacrosse club, which combined both the men's and women's sides and is the largest in the country. The mixed side had regular weekly training alongside team training and a year-long tournament-style league. At the start of the 2021 academic year, Team Alpha was struggling with both player retention and member participation. Due to my previous experiences in leading student groups and being involved in University team sports, I was selected as a captain to come in and join the current team management and use my skills to revitalise the team. Over my tenure as Captain, Team Alpha went from losing matches with poor team turnout to winning matches and becoming one of the most active teams, both on and off the field within the club by the end of the year.
As the Events officer for Keele Athletics Union, it becomes my responsibility to organise the key major Athletics Union events that occur throughout the year such as AU ball and Varsity. Further to this, I help advise and support the 36 sports teams, comprising of over 1500+ student members, that form Keele Athletics Union in the running of their own events.
Following a years tenure leading the Student Newspaper as its Editor, I have taken a step back so that I can focus upon my academic education for my final year. However, with Concourse being such a large yet enjoyable undertaking this year, I wanted to remain involved for my final year. As such I, ran and, was successfully elected as the treasurer. In this role, I will still be able to take a leading role in ensuring that the Newspaper is able to maintain its current operations as well as expand too while prioritising my final year.
Concourse is Keele University’s independent student-run publication and has a long history of promoting student journalism. Having been established in 1964, Concourse has become an important part of the university and has been read by generations of Keele students, both past and present. As Editor in Chief it is my job to manage the day to day works of the paper, as well as organising and managing both our physical print editions and regular weekly website updates. Editor in Chief also requires me to practice my managerial and team work skills as well as IT and time management as I co-ordinate and manage the editorial team, guiding them on articles and subject topics for them to write or investigate. Further to this, I represent the paper to the rest of the student body, be it looking for new talent to join the editorial team or connecting us with other societies to do join collaborations or submissions.
