During my studies, I had the privilege of collaborating with Trinity College Dublin and Microsoft as part of a team of 10 students in creating a Distributed Queue System web application. We implemented our Distributed Queue System as a messaging application that could send large quantities of messages in the order given focusing on scalability and reliability. As a 3rd Year student, I served as the Team Lead, where I gained valuable experience in project management, team coordination, and software development. My responsibilities included organising scrum meetings, implementing agile methodologies, system design, documentation and assisting 2nd year students with programming tasks. Technology stack used included: JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, SQL, Git and Azure. We received an overall grade of First Class Honours (I.I) for the project.
During my internship with the Digital Technology Services team, I worked with each team member towards collective projects and objectives. This hands-on experience enriched my knowledge of eCommerce architecture and technologies, deepening my understanding of how to develop and test these applications. The highlight of my internship was the amazing opportunity to travel to Abbott Park in Chicago to collaborate with a team of U.S interns, we were tasked with developing a high demand technical solution that supported critical cybersecurity related processes within Abbott. This project was not only a testament to my technical capabilities but also allowed me to develop skills in virtual/cross-time zone collaboration within a team.
