As a Network/Linux Infrastructure Specialist at Gonzaga University ITS, I am responsible for maintaining the campus network, administering back-end systems utilizing Linux, and ensuring the smooth operation of the on-premises data center and VMware services. 🔹 Key Responsibilities: ✅ Managing and maintaining the stability, security, and optimal performance of the campus network infrastructure. ✅ Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network equipment, including switches, routers, and firewalls. ✅ Monitoring network performance and resolving any issues or bottlenecks. ✅ Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions that meet the university's requirements. ✅ Administering and supporting Linux-based systems and servers, ensuring availability and efficiency. ✅ Maintaining the on-premises data center and ensuring its reliability and scalability. ✅ Managing VMware services to support virtualized environments and optimize resource utilization. ✅ Implementing and enforcing network security measures to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches. ✅ Conducting regular network audits and assessments for continuous improvement. ✅ Staying updated with industry trends and best practices in network, Linux infrastructure, and data center management.
Monitor wired and wireless network infrastructure using industry-leading applications, such as Solarwinds NPM and Aruba AirWave. Collaborate with other team leads from the technology department in ensuring an optimal network experience for students, staff, faculty, and guests. Assist with planning, purchasing, configuring, and installing network infrastructure as part of a multi-million dollar network upgrade.
