I am a Senior Architecture Consultant employed by Optum focusing on the IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) infrastructure for Optum/UHG. I was brought on board to share my expertise in areas such as IBM PowerHA and Disaster Recovery in the IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) infrastructure environment. I work with a great team of people in a geographically diverse organization. Our goal is to provide a robust, reliable, and stable infrastructure for our customers while providing them a platform which allows for high growth in a cost effective environment.
Providing contract Project Management for an infrastructure migration project. The first phase is bridging the AD of the parent company with this subsidiary. The project includes creating two way trusts, certifying Application access between the organizations and creating a Exchange migration plan. Concurrent project at another facility was to be a simple IP address remediation. Complications set in when there was no CMDB or current documentation on the servers involved. Spent the first six weeks helping the client discover the environment, Managing the people and the processes as we begin the migration work.

Promoted to oversee development and maintenance of IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) systems architecture. Analyze infrastructure capabilities in current IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) environment to identify strength against IT market trends. Provided thought leadership of IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) technology in JPMC. Projects included a migration to POWER7 for IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) and consolidation for over 40 IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) LPARs. This resulted in an elimination of 40 towers from constrained data centers.
Managed design of IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) environment / infrastructure for U.S. and European markets. Identified deployment and migration of systems information to streamline business processes. Led a full technology refresh of IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) infrastructure. This included the change from internal storage to external storage for the majority of the IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) estate. Using external storage resulted in a reduction in migration time of over 80% for subsequent migrations of IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) LPARs. The migrations to external storage for the IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) lpars also allowed for an improved DR/BC for the lines of business resulting in a swap and stay approach as opposed to a swap and test approach. Responsible for the creation and maintenance of the IBM i (aka iSeries, i5, AS/400) technology roadmap while in the architect role for JPMC. These roadmaps provided visibility to the lines of business regarding the plans for the technology.
