Pulsed Power Lab- Experiment Lead Console Operator 9/2020 – Current (LLNL) Prime responsibilities include: High Energy Density Operator- Lead console operator for a team of physicists and engineers during high voltage, high explosive experiments in research and development. Experiments that exceed 2KJ of electrical energy and 1000 lb of high explosives in flux compression generator experiments. PCB Design/Manufacturing -Designed PCBs to customer specifications using “Altium”. Programmed a CNC mill to cut multiple-layer PCB traces. Ordered components and populated boards. Wiring Harness Design/Manufacturing -Designed low-voltage and signal harnesses to customer specifications using “OrCad”. Ordered Cable and terminations. Built to customer specifications. High Voltage Cable Manufacturing -Ordered Cable and terminations. Built to customer specifications. Hi-pot tested to > 40KV and > 50K Amps Hardware Design -Designed brackets, fixtures, housings, and backplanes using “SolidWorks”. 3D printed parts that required low precision. Manufactured high-precision parts on a Bridgeport milling machine and Lathe. Experiment documentation -Set up experiments to customer specification. Designed interlocks and safety systems to conduct experiments safely. Documented timing and data type for each branch of data acquisition. Collected data from oscilloscopes and digitizers. Wrote Python scripts to organize and display data in graphs and charts.
High Voltage Maintenance-Performed routine maintenance on 24KV capacitor banks and reported problems and off normals as they arise. Control Room Operator-monitored and reported all pulsed power subsystems, Plasma Electrode Pockels Cell (PEPC) and Power Conditioning System (PCS) Daily Work Team Leader- Lead meetings prior to daily work tasks to promote safety awareness and conveyed details regarding tasks to be completed for the workday. Supervised and lead work teams assigned to troubleshoot problems and perform daily maintenance. PEPC Lab Technician - Analytically characterized complex electrical and mechanical based issues relating to the PEPC and PCU subsystems. Active - top-secret clearance.
Prime responsibilities include: Electrical Design and Layout-Designed harnesses to interface tool components using “Solid Works Electrical”. Tool Expert-Lead point of contact on technical advice to customers. When problems arose in the field the customers were deferred to me to collect data and advise solutions. Field Trainer-Trained customer’s tool operation and maintenance in the field. Traveled to Asia and the United States when local teams needed assistance in specialized tasks or training. Customer Demonstration Interfacing and Reporting-Met with customers face to face and demonstrated our tools effectiveness and features. Checked in 300mm wafer FOUPs and logged them into our labs database. Diced 300mm, 200mm or 150mm wafers into 10mm samples. Clearly displayed resulting data in official reports. Documentation- Documented wiring schematics using “Solid Works.” created procedures for general maintenance, failure analysis, microwave calibration, components replacement or repair in “Microsoft Word”. Generated flowcharts for troubleshooting and safe tool recovery when things go wrong in “Microsoft Visio”. Hardware Assembly-Proficient in tool assembly and maintenance in a professional cleanroom environment. I understand the steps required to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining a professional level of cleanliness expected when working in class 10 or less environments. Electrical Assembly-Skilled in harness manufacturing and prototyping. Skills: soldering, crimping, Molex, DB 9-25, Lemo high voltage connectors, BNC,CPC, RG-316 coax, ferrules.
