My role at Matrix Services was my introduction to the heavy industrial setting, working at the British Petroleum, Cherry Point Refinery. While my title was Industrial Fitter, I was involved in a variety of critical tasks beyond standard fitting work, contributing significantly to major projects at the refinery. Metal Fabrication: Participated in the fabrication and installation of new steel structures, as well as the removal and modification of existing structures during unit refurbishments. Crane & Rigging: Completed rigging training and assisted in executing critical heavy lifts. Gained valuable insight into the safety protocols and redundancy required to ensure success in high-risk operations. Safety & Training: Took part in continuous safety and professional training programs, gaining a strong foundation in the organizational elements of safety, process development, and training that informed my later roles.
