Switzerland
I am a dynamic and enthusiastic medicinal chemistry project leader with a consistent record of success. I have led projects from concept stage, all the way through to GLP safety testing. My experience encompasses both inhaled and oral delivery of drugs, in the areas of neuroscience and respiratory diseases. I have extensive experience as research representative for development projects including two submissions to the FDA, and have represented chemistry and respiratory research at internal science reviews for the CEO. My key achievements include design, synthesis and characterization of six development candidates, from three separate projects including MK-0752 a clinically active gamma-secretase inhibitor. I have a range of drug discovery and development experience including significant knowledge of in vitro and in vivo biology, pharmacokinetics and project management which allows me facilitate quality decisions across disciplines. In my current position, I manage a team of scientists, and lead two projects both of which have delivered development candidates. I have an ability to get the best out my team, by creating an open atmosphere of collaboration. This has proven successful in consistently exceeding our objectives but also in developing the careers of the team members. I have a passion for practical chemistry and continue to lead my team from lab. I am also skilled in building informal networks across disciplines which provide innovative scientific ideas; I was identified as a key node in a recent NIBR wide organizational analysis, recognizing my ability to bring together people that otherwise would not be connected.
Hit and Lead Generation Chemistry
A key part of the reformed respiratory chemistry group in Cambridge, I lead chemistry efforts in a key therapeutic area, and I am the repository of inhaled drug design knowledge and have extensive responsibilities for our legacy projects, both in early and late development. Chair of the Novartis inhalation advisory board.
As a team leader my group has been responsible for identifying two development candidates in key franchise areas. I have a wide ranging experience of working under pressure to deliver compounds for preclinical testing.
Cambridge site head of hit and lead generation group, within global discovery chemistry. Member of Cambridge leadership team. Expertise in enabling medicinal chemistry programs with quality lead molecules. Continuing involvement in key phase 2 program as research team member.
