Zeger van der Wal (1977) is a globally recognized speaker, scholar, and consultant in public leadership. Currently, he is Professor by special appointment at Leiden University as well as Senior Fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, based at Asia’s no. 1 university NUS. He has won several research and teaching awards and (co)authored over 140 publications in top-tier academic journals, books, magazines and newspapers. His latest books are The 21st Century Public Manager, Ambtelijke Helden Gezocht en Uitvoeringsleiderschap. Zeger manages an active consulting and executive education portfolio with over 100 assignments in 25 countries to date. Recent clients include the World Economic Forum, VISA, Toyota, GIZ, UNDP, Civil service College Singapore, Monetary Authority Singapore, Ayala Corporation, the Korean Standards Association, the Indian Economic Service, ANZSOG, RANEPA, and Hungary National Bank. He regularly keynotes at major conferences and events Van der Wal has educated and trained over 4000 professional graduate students and senior officials across the globe. His work has taken him to Australia, China, Finland, Hong Kong SAR, Hungary, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Thailand, The Netherlands, UAE, UK, and USA. He has held visiting fellowships at American University and The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in the USA, and Australia National University. Top-tier journals which have published his work include Public Administration Review, Public Administration, International Public Management Journal, Administration & Society, American Review of Public Administration, Public Management Review, and Journal of Business Ethics. His main publications have been translated into Russian and Chinese. Zeger sits on the editorial board of 8 international journals and book series.
