My name is Druv, it rhymes with groove. I am an eager and dogged journalist trying to make up for my years of doing not journalism. I have worked as a reporter in Alberta and as an Editor-in-Chief for many of the student publications at Humber College. I currently work at CBC as Producer for Rosemary Barton Live and the At Issue panel on the National. I am a current member of the Developing Emerging Leaders cohort at the CBC, and am looking for more ways to grow and develop my skill as a leader and journalist in the constantly exhausting media landscape.

Work as a Senior Writer for CBC News Network -Write copy scripts, voice over packages and graphics for broadcast on CBC’s News Network -Scour various sources and wires to provide the most up-to-date copy available for our anchors -Work with editors to prepare b-roll, clips, graphics and other visual elements for broadcast -Work within assigned deadlines for hourly broadcasts -Write clean, conversational and factual copy for our anchors to read on air -Update packaged items for broadcast across Canada. -Work with reporters on hits by assisting with clips, graphics and other elements -Work as part of many different teams for a shows across a 24 hour news network -Work with vetters to produce copy in the voice of our anchor, with factuality and conversational tone

Worked as part of a multi-school investigative project examining specific issues across Canada. I cannot discuss the details of what went into the project yet. -Coordinated with the national teams to perform substantive research and data collection for the long term project - Was assigned a geographical location to assess and evaluate for the long term project. - Attend weekly seminars on investigative journalism, including lectures from professional investigative journalists and researches. - Provided information in a defined standard for use across the network. - Used data collected for large scale analysis. - Turned months of work into a final piece, reviewed by industry partners. - Attended large in-person workshop in Montreal, to meet other students in the network and learn first-hand investigative expereince.
Oversaw the production of SWEAT magazine, the Ontario College Athletics Association's official magazine. -Oversaw all pitches and story content for SWEAT's 2019 fall issue. - Contributed my piece, along with Editor's Note. -Coordinated story pitches with OCAA affiliates and our partners at Algonquin College. - Held weekly meetings to coordinate with Algonquin College for this collaboration -Assisted the team with the overall design and editorial philosophy for the issue. -Coordinated photo shoots and other multimedia content development. -Assisted writers with chasing sources, photography and copy editing/fact-checking. -Worked with athletes, coaches, and younger journalism students to supplement our magazine with extra perspectives and reporting.
Worked a local beat, covering county council meetings and criminal courts weekly. Pitched story ideas at weekly pitch meetings and scanned community social media pages for story leads. Wrote 6 - 10 pieces a week including interviews and photos. Published stories on Wordpress and cross-posted to relevant social media pages. Repurposed stories for other platforms- turned photospreads into albums and linked back to the POST website. Took, edited- and laid out photos for filed stories and photo spreads. Edited all stories for CP style before filing and assist other reporters with their stories.
