About

Since 1991 I am with Siemens AG's Corporate Research & Technology division where I am currently working as a Principal Engineer and Certified Senior Software Architect. I have been in charge of different teams with focus on software architecture and distributed systems. My special research comprises AI/GenAI, Kubernetes/Docker, platforms, software architecture, software product lines, functional programming and decentralized distributed systems. Currently my main focus is on AI/GenAI, Digitalization, IoT, Embedded Microcontroller Boards (Arduino, Raspberry, ...). Within Siemens (and on some occasions also for external companies) I have been involved in customer projects as a software architecture and technology consultant. I have been co-author in four book projects so far: in the first two volumes of Pattern-Oriented Software Architecture and in the Software Architektur Handbuch as well as a book on SOA. I am also editor-in-chief of the German magazine JavaSPEKTRUM where I am responsible for the direction and the content.
