💓I’m a medical university lecturer, a senior vitreoretinal surgeon, a board member of two private eye centers, and a co-founder of one among them. My work includes researching methods to deliver health care via the latest technological advances and focusing on remote or underprivileged patients. 💓I had three-year experiences working in an eye center for underprivileged patients. This center delivers free eye exams and surgeries to thousands of patients annually (The Fred Hollows Foundation-Australia included). 💓Technology accompanies healthcare: I worked for three years as an acting head of the IT department at the Eye Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City, where I connected what ophthalmologists want and what the IT team could do to provide the best experience for our patients. In 2017, with the help of Orbis International, an eye care NGO, our team went to Belfast in the UK to study their National diabetic retinopathy screening network. A few months later, the Vietnamese version of the diabetic retinopathy screening network was born and ran well for 2+ years. Now we’re preparing to bring artificial intelligence to the system to cut down waiting time and increase the quality of the service. 💓I’ve been an active senior retina consultant who does both medical and surgical retina. I have performed, on average, 500 surgeries per year for 10+ years. I took part in many in-house and international trials in eye care. I do believe in evidence-based medicine and strive to work in that direction. 💓Since coming back from surgical retina fellowship training in Australia in 2010, I’ve been traveling around the country to give lectures and share experiences about vitreo-retina diseases with my peers. I’ve trained at least five retina fellows. I’m a peer reviewer of EyeSEA (Eye South East Asia) Journal.
I'm working as a member of the Faculty of Medicine project management board at EIU. I prepare curriculum and teaching materials for the Ophthalmology Department.
I contribute as well as do reviews for potential publications for this journal in the field of vitreo-retina.
I have a Youtube channel about eye health for laypeople and professionals alike.
Since 2016, I deliver 20+ conference presentations nationwide each year.
