About

BMedSci (Hons), MB ChB (Edin), MSc (Dist), MRCP(UK), MRCP Edin, FRCR Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists Canadian-Torontonian. Proud identical twin to Dr Deepika Manoharan (Nephrologist). British educated and trained doctor. I am a Specialty Doctor in Clinical Oncology at the renowned Northern Centre for Cancer Care at the Freeman Hospital - Newcastle, with particular interests in neuro-oncology, thoracic oncology, GI and pancreatic malignancies, lymphoma, stereotactic radiotherapy, and adaptive radiotherapy. Following Internal Medicine (ranked in top 10% nationally), I pursued Clinical Oncology (ranked 2nd nationally). Before entering Oncology, I trained as a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Cardiology. Yet, over time, I felt a pull I could not ignore; a calling toward cancer care. Changing specialties was not a career move; it was a conviction. In a world where cancer touches 1 in 2 lives, I knew where I was meant to stand. My ambition is not measured by accolades, but to be remembered for my kindness. To be a blessing in someone's darkest hour is the true success I pray for daily. To touch hearts, to bring light, and to leave hope; this is the legacy I desire to accomplish. The UK’s program in 'Clinical Oncology' with the Royal College of Radiologists is one of the most unique and sophisticated programs globally, allowing me to practice both in Radiation Oncology (successfully obtained the prestigious FRCR) and Medical Oncology, enabling the delivery of radiotherapy with cutting-edge advanced technology and techniques in the form of external beam therapy, brachytherapy, electron therapy, and stereotactic radiotherapy, as well as deliver a full range of systemic anti-cancer therapies in the form of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted agents, and hormone therapy. I pursued Medicine (6-year BMedSci/MD programme) in UK's top medical schools directly after completing my high school in Toronto (95% average/GPA 4.0). I did my pre-clinical training (acceptance rate of 3%) at University of St Andrews (BMedSci Hons First Class) and intercalated in Molecular Oncology (GPA 3.9/4.0). I continued my clinical training (acceptance rate of 2%) at the University of Edinburgh (MBChB Edin), with final year electives at University of Toronto (GPA 4.0/4.0). I further earned a Masters with Distinction (MSc) in Internal Medicine (GPA 4.0/4.0) with the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh and received the prestigious RCPE Scholarship. I would like to combine treating patients with academic research, with the aim to develop novel effective treatments and be able to offer cure, prolong life, or palliation.
