PhD synthetic organic chemist, with >6 years industrial experience in synthetic chemistry and analytics. Focus on early scale-up, automation and development up to kilo scale. Currently not looking to move. Specialties: Route finding and validation, early scale-up (grams to kilogram), purification, automation, process control, analytics (NMR, IR, UV, MS, HPLC, GC, MALDI), supervising and guiding coworkers.
Role: project leader, responsible for the safe and expedient scale up API synthesis from grams to kilograms Scope: route development to move from lab scale to plant scale under GMP, including development of purification strategies for the elimination or reduction of undesired impurities.
Role: Post-doc in the nanotechnology group (Prof. U. Pieles) working towards controlling API crystal polymorphism by surface modification. Scope: route finding/development on bench scale, maintaining a GLP lab (including LC and MS systems), guiding coworkers & students and assisting in data interpretation including NMR (1H, 13C, DEPT, APT, COSY, NOESY, HBMC, HSQC). This CTI project is aimed at controlling pharmaceutical API crystallization.
Role: double role as senior post-doc working on industrial custom-synthesis projects as an FTE and supervising the practical education of FH Bachelor students. Scope: route finding/development for bench or pilot scale, presenting findings to our industrial partner, guiding and instructing lab technicians, students and junior PhDs. This role allowed me direct insight into the Swiss education system as well as giving me an opportunity to get to know local companies engaged in synthetic organic chemistry.
Support Chemist for this leading laboratory automation manufacturer (Pharma, Fine Chemicals & Polymers) Scope: performing client chemistry on the robotic platforms, introducing new users to automation, trouble-shooting equipment and presenting at conferences and exhibitions (e.g. ACHEMA) Experienced state-of-the-art methods of automation, particularly for pharmaceutical library synthesis and process development, including online reaction monitoring and control (PAT)
in Sandwich with rapid custom synthesis / scale-up Scope: route finding, synthesis & analytical characterization and scale-up (1-200g) of pharmaceutical monomers Skills acquired include the operation of HEL reactor systems, Biotage preparative chromatography equipment, HPLC and LCMS analysis. Two publications (vide infra).
