At MedReimagined we believe every community has the right to choose whom they will trust with their healthcare. We help communities create pipelines of the homegrown aspiring medical professionals they need most - so that every community trusts their health providers and believes they can lead the world in health outcomes. Our mission is to create pathways for scholars from every community to become MDs. We center the experiences of students who seldom see themselves in science curriculum and support them until they get their white coats.
Project Pneuma is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2014. We currently serve 100 young men of color in grades 4-8 with a waiting list of over 300 students. Our core programming includes academic tutoring, yoga, mindfulness, public speaking training, self-defense, warrior training, martial arts, meditation, and wrestling. Students also participate in off site events such as sailing, camping, and our yearly fitness challenge at the Under Armour National Headquarters. All on site sessions take place at the Baltimore City Public Safety and Training Facility inside the police academy. Police officers and new cadets serve as tutors, mentors, and participate in all activities along with our young men. By working together, we are debunking the myth that the police and young men of color cannot peacefully coexist, build trust, and develop meaningful relationships. Students also participate in off-site enrichment activities such as sailing and camping. The Mission of Project Pneuma is to Breathe New Life holistically into the young men we serve by challenging them intellectually, strengthening them physically, nurturing them emotionally and uplifting them spiritually. The Vision of Project Pneuma is to strive to teach our young men the art of forgiveness, self-control and discipline while giving them exposure to a new world of endless possibilities. Project Pneuma focuses on teaching our young men forgiveness and self-control through meditation, yoga, breathing techniques and focus drills because many of their issues result from impulse actions; discipline through martial arts and intense physical training; and exposure to different cultures and locations because so many of them have never experienced life outside of Baltimore.
Our Mission: Changing Our Future Together BMe community is a growing network of all races and genders committed to building better communities across the U.S. BMe is built upon black fathers, coaches, businessmen and students who lead by example to strengthen neighborhoods, mentor young people, and create businesses. Each day they help to change our futures for the better. BMe's primary tactics are to recognize and recruit black men who lead by example called "BMe Leaders", identify influencers of any race or gender who share their values called "Community Champions", link those two groups to work on their shared causes. BMe then works with solutions-oriented journalists and storytellers to tell the stories of community-building and invites thousands of people like you to be "Community-builders" as well by sharing the positive stories, participating in events and inviting your friends to Reach With Us as well. BMe Community we believe that: 1. Black men are assets to society. 2. Valuing all members of the human family is the most prosperous way forward for our diverse America. 3. We reject narratives that denigrate and prejudice one against another. 4. We work together in asset-oriented ways to build more prosperous communities.
