My interests have always reached beyond dentistry. By the mid-1980s, I had already developed a strong background in programming, working intensively — and loving it — with BASIC, Pascal, C, and Prolog, especially Arity Prolog. After finishing university, I moved to the United States, intending to build my life there. In 1987, while living in Silicon Valley, I became almost completely absorbed in artificial intelligence and language parsing. I would spend entire days at the computer, often getting up only for water and dry bread because anything more would have taken too much time away from studying, experimenting, and programming. A Cal Poly professor once suggested that I could enter a computer science master’s program directly, despite never having studied CS formally. I chose a different path, but that early fascination with language, systems, and intelligence never really left me. Today, I’m interested in the connections between medicine, technology, artificial intelligence, markets, fitness, music, and human behavior.
