Greater Perth Area
Extensive experience across Medical Research, Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol Treatment Services, and Suicide Prevention. For the last eight years, I provided mental health services to migrants and refugees living in Australia. Most of my work was in complex trauma where I frequently worked in the following areas of expertise: * Anxiety and depression * Post traumatic stress disorder * Domestic violence * Trauma * Grief and loss In addition to one-on-one work with clients, I successfully led education projects where I trained some of the largest and most marginalised community groups on the topics of Mental Health, Substance Use and Suicide Prevention. Prior to my work in mental health, I was based at Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, in Melbourne, where I spent five years within Breast Cancer Research Division. I was responsible for state wide data collection which included identifying suitable families with predisposition to breast cancer, conducting interviews, and organising biological specimens. The data and biological specimens collected over the duration of this project, have to date, been used in over one hundred research projects, world-wide.
Worked within Breast Cancer Research Division on a longitudinal, multi-generational, research project, which investigated familial predisposition to breast cancer, specifically looking at germline mutations in predisposing genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2.
