Dr. Wong Zeng Hao Joel is a paediatric surgeon practising at Paediatric Surgery and Urology International. He specializes in abdominal and urological conditions of the newborn, child and adolescent. His main interest is in minimal access surgery and urology. After graduating from medical school at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Dr. Wong obtained his membership of the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons (Glasgow) in Surgery. He subsequently completed his specialist training in Paediatric Surgery at National University Hospital and was accredited with the Specialist Accreditation Board and Ministry of Health, Singapore. Thereafter, he undertook a clinical fellowship at the King’s College Hospital (KCH), United Kingdom (UK), which is an acute care, trauma centre, tertiary referral hospital for patients with hepatobiliary disease, and referral centre for tongue tie. He spent a second year at Great Ormond Street Hospital, UK and was involved in managing various conditions in this multidisciplinary quaternary care hospital dedicated solely to neonatal and paediatric care. He trained under the mentorship of eminent surgeons both locally and in the UK. He was a member of the British Association of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons (BAPES), a not-for-profit organisation established to improve paediatric minimally invasive surgery. He was awarded the BAPES Travelling Fellowship in 2018 to further advance his experience in minimal access surgery at acclaimed high volume centres. He was also a recipient of the BAPES Advanced Minimal Access Scholarship in Paediatric Surgery and Urology in 2019. He was a member of the European Paediatric Surgeons’ Association and British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and presented at their annual congresses. Besides clinical work, Dr Wong was involved in research and education. He was principal investigator for a number of research projects and was awarded a grant. He has published papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented in international conferences. He was also a clinical tutor and examiner at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, NUS. He is a father of three sons and understands the challenges of parenting especially for sick children. He loves to spend time with his wife and sons, especially when their laughter brings joy to his heart. He strives to provide personalized care for his patients and the best outcome for them.
