During my clinical externship at Georgia Clinic, I gained invaluable experience under the guidance of Dr. Naresh Parikh and his dedicated staff. I could learn about detailed patient interviews, examinations, and interpreted lab results, EKGs, imaging, and stress tests with precision. Managing a diverse range of cardiology cases, including CKD, COPD, diabetes, and obesity, strengthened my understanding of patient-centered care. I deeply admire Dr. Parikh’s work ethic, his commitment to always prioritizing the patient, and his adherence to the latest medical guidelines. In addition to providing clear patient education and leading educational discussions with physician assistant students, I also learned the importance of hard work, ethics, and placing the patient first in every aspect of care. This experience has been instrumental in shaping my clinical skills and approach to medicine.
During this experience, I could observe my attending manage a variety of cases, including hypertension, diabetes, ADHD, acute kidney injury (AKI), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), perioperative management, and patients on controlled drug substances. This opportunity not only strengthened my clinical knowledge but also enhanced my communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills in a real-world medical environment. It provided invaluable experience in patient care and documentation, preparing me for future clinical practice.
