Over the last 20+ years, I have been fortunate to work across 20 countries helping organizations move from “talking about sustainability” to actually implementing it. My work focuses on ESG, CSR, HSE, and responsible business transformation that creates real value for both companies and communities. One of my proudest achievements has been leading a USD 500 million sustainability financing initiative, supporting green finance and green bond programs, and developing certified green infrastructure including green warehouses. I have also contributed to Platinum-level sustainability certification for large industrial operations. Renowned for working with global stakeholders—including ILO, IFC, DFC, BII, and Norfund—to embed sustainability into core business practices. Adept at fostering innovation, mitigating ESG risks, and creating long-term value for businesses and communities. Holds a Postgraduate Degree in Strategic Management from IIM Nagpur, bringing strategic vision and operational excellence to every initiative. - Green Field Project – Played Lead Role in Environment Clearance (EC) & Sustainability Road Map in Copper Tube manufacturing, Baroda. An investment of Rs.1100 Cr - Drive environmental initiatives such as climate risk assessments, carbon footprint reduction, water conservation, and circular economy programs. - Develop and lead the execution of the company's sustainability roadmap aligned with global standards (e.g., SDGs, TCFD, SBTi, GRI) Carbon Footprint Reduction (25% reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions) - Partner with senior leadership to identify and execute on growth and margin expansion opportunities, constructively challenging “where to play” and “how to win” choices. - Develop frameworks to support identification, incubation, and assessment of critical growth initiatives to align with business goals. - Identify and evaluate inorganic growth strategies including acquisitions, alliance, licensing, and partnership opportunities linked to the strategic plan. - Continue to evolve strategy, business, and go-to-market capabilities by being a “player-coach” on critical projects. - Conduct market analysis and identify growth opportunities - Track competitor performance and market intelligence to drive in insights and identify potential changes to strategic actions.
- Water Positive Certification has been done. Net Zero Waste Landfill Project done. Recycle Hazardous Waste in to Cement plant. We save 2 Cr. per Annum through Circular Economy. - Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations (CPCB, SPCB, MOEFCC) and internal policies. - 5 MW solar plant established in Nagpur plant. - Green Field Project – Played Lead Role in Environment Clearance (EC) & Sustainability Road Map in Copper Tube manufacturing, Baroda. An investment of Rs.1100 Cr. - Lead decarbonization roadmap with clear targets for Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. - Establish ESG KPIs, executive incentives, and compliance mechanisms for ethics, anti-corruption, and accountability. - Support board ESG committees with insights, reporting, and regulatory updates. - CSR Policy & Strategy and CSR Impact Assessment & Reporting - Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations (CPCB, SPCB, MOEFCC) and internal policies - Oversee implementation of best practices in air, water, waste, biodiversity, and energy management. Renewable Energy Usage (20% of total energy from renewable sources) - Water Usage Efficiency (150m³ per unit of production; 2% reduction year-over-year) - Waste Diversion Rate (100% of total waste diverted from landfill through recycling or reuse)
- ESG/EHS Integration Post-Acquisition: Led post-merger ESG, EHS, and legal integration for four acquired entities, building governance frameworks from the ground up and harmonizing policies across geographies. - Greenfield & Brownfield Project Execution: Successfully developed and implemented ESG and EHS strategies for two greenfield and two brownfield projects, ensuring compliance with National/international standards (MoEFCC, IFC, WB EHS Guidelines). - Strategic ESG Leadership: Spearheaded the ESG agenda across India and Asia, aligning business operations with global sustainability frameworks (GRI, TCFD, SASB, SDGs). - Reporting & Disclosure: Managed ESG data reporting, due diligence, and materiality assessments for regional operations, contributing to corporate disclosures and investor-grade ESG reports. - Policy & Framework Development: Authored and implemented corporate ESG and EHS policies, supplier code of conduct, human rights due diligence frameworks, and climate risk registers. - Stakeholder Engagement: Engaged with cross-functional teams, regulators, community leaders, and investors to ensure inclusive sustainability development and transparent communication. - Zero Waste Landfill: Zero waste to landfill is a sustainability goal that aims to eliminate all waste sent to landfills by diverting it to recycling, reuse, or recovery. The goal is to reduce the environmental impact of waste disposal and promote the circular economy. - Monitored evolving EHS/ESG legislation and ensured ongoing compliance across Federal, State, and local levels; filed mandatory regulatory reports (e.g., OSHA). - Directed a geographically dispersed team, fostering a positive, high-performance culture and mentoring next-generation EHS leaders.
- Championed a zero-incident culture by promoting proactive risk identification and a "See Something, Do Something" mindset across global operations. - Developed and executed a streamlined, behavior based EH&S improvement plan to enhance safety engagement, reporting efficiency, and regulatory alignment. - Served as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, communicating performance trends, risk profiles, and future-focused EH&S and sustainability strategies. - Oversaw and prioritized a diverse portfolio of EH&S and ESG initiatives across global sites, aligning actions with compliance needs and organizational objectives. - Conducted site visits & review of ESG/EHS across Asia manufacturing locations to ensure operational compliance, strengthen team engagement, and assess on-ground EHS performance. - Led cross-functional project teams to drive continuous improvement in EH&S practices and implement standardized global systems and frameworks. - Led the corporate EHS/ESG function at Saint-Gobain, overseeing EHS strategy, compliance, and performance across 37 manufacturing units nationwide. - Drove standardization of EHS & ESG systems, implemented ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 across sites, and ensured regulatory compliance with national and global standards. - Supported plant-level EHS teams through audits, training, and leadership engagement, achieving significant improvements in safety KPIs and environmental footprint. - Collaborated with global EHS leadership to align local practices with Saint-Gobain’s international sustainability and safety objectives.
- Directed the development and execution of comprehensive project-specific EHS strategies across all phases of a GMP facility’s design and construction lifecycle. - Acted as primary liaison for all EHS matters between project teams, contractors, regulatory authorities, and corporate stakeholders, ensuring seamless compliance communication. - Oversaw the permitting and regulatory compliance process, including acquisition and management of environmental, building, and waste permits aligned with federal, state (NC DEQ), and local requirements. Reviewed and approved risk assessments, contractor safety plans, and method statements to maintain safe execution of site activities and uphold Arcadis and client safety standards. - Conducted regular audits, inspections, and hazard identification to ensure continuous safety performance and proactive issue resolution throughout construction. - Led the development and enforcement of site-specific training programs for contractors and personnel, emphasizing emergency response, incident reporting, and behavioral safety culture. - Monitored EHS KPIs, incidents, and near-misses, conducted root cause analyses, and implemented corrective/preventive actions to drive continuous improvement. - Managed waste segregation, disposal, and recycling programs in line with environmental best practices, including proper handling of hazardous construction waste. - Collaborated cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and corporate EHS teams to integrate compliance and risk mitigation into overall project delivery. - Ensured project alignment with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, GMP, and ISPE Baseline Guide standards applicable to biotech/pharma construction. - Supported greenfield construction in a regulated environment, ensuring safety compliance and sustainability goals were met from ground-up development to commissioning.
