Dr Sandie Fitchat is an English-language editor with nearly 40 years of experience in Namibia. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Cape Town (2022), an MA in General Linguistics (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University, and a Higher Diploma in Education (UCT, 1986). She is also a Namibia High Court-accredited sworn translator (German to English). Her editing experience spans academic, legal, and business publications, including major volumes such as Warikandwa et al. (2025) Conference Proceedings: Annual Conference of the African Network of Constitutional Lawyers co-published by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Namibia-Angola. Her sworn translation work includes legal documents such as academic transcripts, divorce settlements, gun licences, and birth and death certificates. Clients include KingLaw and Pieter Hamman Legal Practitioners in Swakopmund, Namibia, where she is based. In terms of authorship, her PhD thesis is in press with the Basler Afrika Bibliographien in Switzerland. She is a member of professional bodies, including the Scientific Society Swakopmund (Namibia), and served as Co-Chairperson of Visual Artists - Namibia.
