#iamacaringcarer #istriveforhumanetreatmentofHCWers #inserviceofpatients "Diseases are not tick-boxes. Patients do not fit into those boxes most of the time, because their bodies forget to read the textbook." I have always told my patients this. I practice as a General Practictitioner in Primary Care. I am also a GP Allergist with a special interest in Immunology and Auto-Immune diseases. I have extensive experience in Primary Health Care, Paediatrics, Women's Health, Intensive Care, Allergy, Diseases of the Immune System and I worked in Occupational Health. While working in Occupational Health at Universitas Academic hospital, I soley completed a backlog of over 50% of Covid-19 COIDA reports. My scientific basis of disease is rooted in Genetics and my fascination with the beauty and aberrations of health and our immune system, stems from these building blocks. I also have experience in project management in public health, assisting in the establishment of the public Covid-19 vaccine site at Universitas Hospital. This was one of the greatest honours and most humbling experiences in service to our SA population. I was also exposed to the principals of the Ideal Hospital and health policy. My passions: 🩺 Mental health in HCWers "truly caring for us as carers" 🩺 Compassionate care to patients of all ages 🩺 Action against GBV and Women, Children and LBGTQI+ communities who suffer abuse 🩺 Health education having presented several CPD events and having taught medical students in my practice 🩺 Research 🩺 Equity in medicine and healthcare 🩺 Thinking "outside the box": finding novel and interesting solutions to difficult to diagnose diseases 🩺 Proudly representing hard of hearing HCWers 🦻 🩺 Trying to convince healthcare systems of the benefit of developing novel solutions to workflow issues 🩺 Trying to better understand ancient, traditional ways of healing. 🩺 Changing the world, one step at a time 🌍 Climate change affects human health
l will re-open my private GP and Allergy practice on 14th January 2026
Locum work is very scarce and I find myself looking for new exciting and interesting opportunities!
I am providing locum services for GP colleagues. MRG facilitates these services and they have been a great pleasure to work with and very supportive. Happy to be serving patients again! 🩺👩🏼⚕️
I was in mourning and had suffered several significant life altering events. Employment was scarce and life was about fortitude, gratitude and survival.
I assisted at the Occupational Health Department at Universitas Hospital when no full time doctor was available. 🖋 I single handedly finalised over 50 % of Covid-19 COIDA cases. 🖋 I reviewed the records of staff who had severe complications from Covid- 19 infection and who are living with the complications of Long Covid. 🖋 I provided care to some of these Long Covid sufferers, developing an interest in the patients who have micro-emboli as a basis for their neurological complications. 🖋 I diagnosed several staff members with work exacerbated asthma due to mould exposure. 🖋 My other duties included providing care for the staff injured on duty, living with TB and those with HIV needle stick exposure. Radiation, chemical and other surveillance monitoring is part of the clinic's service delivery. 🖋 We provide assistance and referral for patients to the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). This has highlighted the significant impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on staff and how pre-existing poverty and mental health fragility has affected staff. 🌻 As an asthma and allergy specialist my interest in occupational related allergy disease is an asset to the clinic. Something for the hospital to explore.
