Dr Marie Davidová is an independent junior research group leader at IntCDC University of Stuttgart. She is a systemic and urban designer, designer, architect, researcher and educator. Marie is a founding member and chair of Collaborative Collective practice design-research network NGO, a founding and chair member of Systemic Design Association, and a founding member and auditor of Creative Systemic Research Platform Institute. Marie founded the Systemic Approach to Architectural Performance research by codesign field.
The Systemic Design Research Network (SDRN) was formalized in a founding meeting the 23rd October in Turin. It is a non-for-profit association. CSRP Institute is on a journey, as a supportive platform, to develop and become a well-established node, exploring systemic approaches through systemic, creative, visual learning experiences, informed by ecological applications, and based on sound theoretical work. A fundamental aspect of CSRP Institute is the idea of individual effort collectively contributing to the working community as an energetic effort towards self-organisation. A lot still needs to be achieved, but we will not be doing this alone. The CSRP Institute recently came into being, from CSRP research, based on solid relationships, built up over many years with other similar nodes, engaged in practice and research, in many different global and regional locations. The core of the group is and remains communal and bottom-up by nature, and will continue to engage with smallholdings and local stakeholders to gain traction and maintain informed research, policy and practice. CSRP Institute is an autonomous applied research entity, that also aims to test circular properties of local resources, the nature of transformation (from energy to energy), mapping and investigating food production, distribution, as well as actively seeking integration of different outcomes from among the diverse sets of emerging economies. Our work also informs a range of activities that includes the creative expression through visualisation and performance of the social complexity of communal well-being and the health of its tacit structures. The creative element is important as this helps to express what might otherwise be excluded or overlooked in mainstream discussions.
Collaborative Collective is a research by co-design led association focusing on holistic systemic design approaches that are synergising social sciences, culture, art, architecture, landscape, social and cultural ecology and sustainable development. It is active in its self-ratified design field, ‘Systemic Approach to Architectural Performance’. This field fights for cities’ and other cultural landscapes’ shift towards Post-Anthropocene through its biodiversity support and climate change adaptation. The work is achieved through ‘real life co-design laboratory’. The NGO is attached to its sister Collaborative Collective practise network in order to seek for practice applications of its experimental prototypical urban, semi-urban and rural interventions’ investigations.
LeNSin, the International Learning Network of networks on Sustainability (2015-2018), is an EU-supported (ERASMUS+) project involving 36 universities from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and Central America, aiming at the promotion of a new generation of designers (and design educators) capable to effectively contribute to the transition towards a sustainable society for all. LeNSin ambitions to improve the internationalisation, intercultural cross-fertilisation and accessibility of higher education on Design for Sustainability (DfS). The project focuses on Sustainable Product-Service Systems (S.PSS) and Distributed Economies (DE) – considering both as promising models to couple environmental protection with social equity, cohesion and economic prosperity – applied in different contexts around the world. LeNSin connects a multi-polar network of Higher Education Institutions adopting and promoting a learning-by-sharing knowledge generation and dissemination, with an open and copyleft ethos. During the three years of operation, LeNSin project activities involve five seminars, ten pilot courses, the setting up of ten regional LeNS Labs, and of a (decentralised) open web platform, any students/designers and any teachers can access to download, modify/remix and reuse an articulated set of open and copyleft learning resources, i.e. courses/lectures, tools, cases, criteria, projects. LeNSin will also promote a series of diffusion activities targeting the design community worldwide. The final event will be a decentralised conference in 2018, based simultaneously in six partner universities, organised together by the 36 project partners form four continents.
