Madhavan Nampoothiri is an Energy and Sustainability professional with more than two decades of cross-functional management experience in clean energy (renewable energy, energy efficiency and e-mobility) and fossil fuel industries. His experience spans four countries across three continents in public sector and private sector companies, including Fortune 500 firms and startups. His work encompasses Finance, Technology and Policy. He has also been associated with the School of Sustainability IIT Madras and Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship as an educator. Madhavan’s opinions have appeared in the New York Times, Bloomberg, Economic Times and The Hindu BusinessLine, among others. He is regularly invited to speak on clean energy renewable energy at international events like the European Heat Pump Summit(Germany), Solarpraxis(Germany), Intersolar(China and India) among others. Madhavan holds a PhD (jointly from IIT Madras and University of Passau ,Germany) , MBA (Indiana University, USA), MS (IIT Madras), and B.Eng. (M.S. University, India). He has lived and worked in Europe (Switzerland and Germany), Asia (India and China) and North America (USA).

Building a renewable energy and energy efficiency assets management firm. Responsibilities include identifying bankable distributed solar PV projects and energy efficiency projects, performing technical and financial due diligence, negotiating Power Purchase Agreements(PPAs)/Energy Savings Performance Contracts and securing equity and debt for these projects. Developed solar rooftop PV assets under RESCO model, secured debt from top lenders and sold some of the assets to a major IPP backed by global investors. Completed Energy Efficiency projects under ESCO model(Heating-as-a-Service) for major automotive component manufacturers.
