Dr. Brown is a professor in the department of Sociology and Gerontology, with his primary appointment in Gerontology. He is also a fellow of the Scripps Gerontology Center, a research unit at Miami University. Dr. Brown teaches courses related to aging to undergraduate and graduate students. He is also an instructor for graduate courses in statistics and research methodology at the master's and PhD level. Through the Scripps Center, Dr. Brown also is active in grant and contract work involving numerous issues relevant to aging including research related to disability measurement, state program evaluations, social security, and the development of statistical research methods.
Dr. Brown held a research fellowship at the Carolina Population Center. There, he conducted research investigating long-term health outcomes with a focus on race and ethnic differences in those outcomes. Research work at this location also looked at long-term post-war health of WWII veterans.
Dr. Brown pursued and received his Ph.D.
Dr. Brown held an instructional position in Sociology where he taught courses in Introduction to Sociology; Race and Ethnic Relations; and Marriage and the Family.
