High levels of absenteeism, increasing turnover, and declining performance are often too quickly framed as health issues in many organizations. In reality, however, they are frequently the result of deeper leadership, structural, and organizational factors. Health in organizations is not primarily created through preventive programs, health days, or isolated wellness initiatives. It emerges where leadership, organizational design, and people management establish the conditions for sustained performance, engagement, and long-term retention. This perspective has been shaped by more than two decades of experience in occupational medicine – as an in-house physician at Volkswagen with international responsibility and the development of innovative rehabilitation and workplace health concepts, as Managing Director of an occupational health service provider, and as Chief Physician of the Occupational Health Department at the University Hospital of Cologne. My current work focuses on the integration of occupational medicine, prevention, and strategic corporate health management with the steering mechanisms of modern organizations. The key questions addressed include: • How can absenteeism be sustainably reduced? • How can performance capacity and willingness be maintained over the long term? • Which leadership and organizational structures truly promote health? • How can health metrics become meaningful management indicators? • How can health and business performance be strategically aligned? Working approach: evidence-based, pragmatic, and consistently aligned with the executive level. Health requires leadership. Leadership requires clarity. Clarity requires structure.
Strategic advisory and leadership in occupational health management, prevention and corporate health strategy. Focus on integrating medical expertise into organizational structures, KPI management, team leadership, and executive-level project execution, with proven experience in implementing innovative programs.
