For more than five decades, I have worked at the intersection of engineering, management science, and enterprise systems — across industry, academia, and consulting. Across this journey, one structural limitation has remained consistent: Enterprises are highly capable of executing processes, yet fundamentally constrained in making decisions. This is not a technology gap — it is an architectural one. Most organisations still rely on ERP-centred models designed for control and transaction processing. These systems were never intended to operate under conditions of volatility, uncertainty, and strategic complexity. I am the author of: Decision-Making Driven Design (DMDD): Building the Enterprise Decision Twin A three-volume practitioner-academic series that redefines enterprise architecture by positioning decision quality as the primary performance variable — not process execution. DMDD introduces the Enterprise Decision Twin: an AI-augmented layer that enables organisations to simulate, evaluate, and optimise decisions before execution. Published via Amazon KDP. My forthcoming work: Unified Symbiotic Intelligence Science USIS Establishes the scientific and epistemological foundations underpinning DMDD — defining how human intelligence, machine intelligence, and organisational systems integrate into a unified decision-making architecture. Where DMDD is the enterprise operationalisation of decision intelligence, USIS provides the theoretical parent. Together, these works form The Symbiotic Intelligence Library. My academic foundation was built at Pierre and Marie Curie University (Paris VI — Sorbonne), where I earned my Doctorate in Industrial Management with highest honours (Docteur Ingénieur, Mention Très Honorable). Before founding MDC — Management & Development Center in 1992, I held roles at Renault in France, the American University in Cairo, Suez Oil Company, the Institute of Public Administration in Saudi Arabia, and Sadat Academy of Management Sciences. Over 34 years at MDC, I have led consultancy, applied research, and executive training across more than 50 organisations — from Coca-Cola Egypt and Toshiba El-Aarby to Marcyrl Pharmaceutical Industries and EZDK Ezz Dekhela Steel — spanning manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, oil & gas, and infrastructure. ERP implementations across SAP S/4HANA, Oracle 12, and ODOO. Training programmes delivered under EU and USAID mandates including IMC, ALEB, PSDP, IIE, and CQA. 📧 [email protected] 🔗 linkedin.com/in/dr-eng-samir-lotfi-ali-89072721
In 2020, I transitioned from operational leadership of MDC to a strategic and intellectual role — serving as Non-Executive Chairman of the Management & Development Centre while dedicating the majority of my focus to strategic advisory work, executive training, and the development of the DMDD framework and The Symbiotic Intelligence Library. Strategic Advisory & Consultation • Provide senior advisory and consultation services to organisations undertaking digital transformation, ERP strategy, supply chain redesign, and operational restructuring across Egypt, the Middle East, and internationally. • Advise executive leadership teams on enterprise architecture decisions, decision intelligence adoption, and the transition from transaction-centric to decision-driven operating models. • Deliver targeted training programmes in enterprise transformation, digital strategy, supply chain systems, and operational excellence for corporate and institutional clients. Authorship & Intellectual Contribution • Author of Decision-Making Driven Design (DMDD): Building the Enterprise Decision Twin — a three-volume practitioner-academic series published via Amazon KDP. The series introduces the Enterprise Decision Twin as the next-generation alternative to ERP-centric enterprise intelligence. • Currently developing Unified Symbiotic Intelligence Science — the scientific and theoretical parent framework underpinning DMDD, establishing the epistemological foundations of human-machine cognitive partnership and decision intelligence at scale. Together forming The Symbiotic Intelligence Library. Governance • Non-Executive Chairman of MDC — providing strategic oversight and institutional direction for the centre’s consulting, training, and applied research activities.
