About

I'm a teaching-focussed lecturer and module coordinator within Aston University’s department of Biosciences, responsible for molecular metabolism and cell signalling, in addition to my role as PULSE lead for staff development and personal tutoring, and member of our Welfare team. I have a passion for education, enhancing practice through innovative pedagogy and guiding students to reach their full potential, in addition to supporting their emotional wellbeing and welfare. My PhD research focussed around the structure-function relationship of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and building towards a holistic understanding of them through biophysical, pharmacological and computational approaches. I established a FRET-based interaction assay between the calcitonin family of GPCRs and the RAMPs which forms a basis from which their interaction dynamics can be further explored. In addition, I explored the structural determinants of signalling with a novel application of geometric morphometrics and principal component analysis to resolved GPCR structures.
