In 2014, Alvin founded and became Chief Executive Officer at Entrepreneurial Confluence Strategists. In 2022, he re-activated Confluent Capital. Our purpose is to help grow businesses, create jobs and entrepreneurialize people through proprietary and innovative growth strategy, private equity capital, and learning content interventions. He was formerly Head of Policy for Sub Saharan Africa at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) until 2013. In 2008, he founded and was CEO of Confluent Capital (Pty) Ltd - an Africa focused, private equity investment growing firm. Before, he was a Senior Associate then Portfolio Manager of Musa Capital (Pty) Ltd, a private equity and merchant banking firm. Prior to this, he was the CFO of an associate company of Investec Bank in South Africa. Prior to this, he was the Executive Assistant to the Group CEO of starafricacorporation Ltd, then one of the largest, top quartile, diversified and listed groups in Zimbabwe where he developed and executed its local and Africa growth strategy as a member of the Group’s Executive Committee and subsidiary boards. Further, in 2018, he co-founded and was Co-CEO until 2020 of Dawn Legacy Group (Pty) Ltd, a financial services and private equity business. He has been in various senior positions in both stock exchange listed, entrepreneurial, and privately owned entities at corporate and divisional level, and done business in 16 African countries across financial services, manufacturing, FMCG, infrastructure, natural resources and distribution in a working period of over 20 years. Alvin trained with KPMG, and is a CA (SA) and CA (Zimbabwe). He holds Doctor of Business Leadership (DBL) in entrepreneurial strategy, Master of Business Leadership (MBL) and Bachelor of Accounting Science degrees from University of South Africa (UNISA). In 2006, he completed the MyGlobe – Managing Young Global Enterprises program at INSEAD in France. He is a former lecturer at UNISA SBL in Finance on the Management Development Program (MDP). Alvin is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (ICAZ), and the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa (IODSA). He is an active business mentor on various ESD programs, speaks at business conferences, and actively blogs on social media.
