I have spent my career studying people (principally learners, educators and leaders) and the challenges they face in order to offer solutions that help them achieve or surpass their goals. Listening to them, telling their stories, thinking of them first when considering, planning and preparing solutions is how I make sure products and practices meet people where they are. Leading and collaborating with cross-functional teams, marshalling their talents and expertise, and helping contributors earlier in their careers find their ears and voices to design, build and implement those solutions is how I have pursued that career goal. Additionally, spending several years in project and program management inspired a passion for developing and adapting thoughtful but nimble practices for organizations to plan and execute product strategies.
ExecOnline offers organizations a growing array of leadership development experiences and coaching in partnership with world-class institutions and distinguished individual faculty partners. I contributed to this mission by identifying and anticipating how the platform can encourage and enable enterprise customers and individual participants to achieve their goals and by recruiting, leading and developing a team of product managers to define, pursue and adapt a roadmap.
I led an effort by the higher ed product group to explore options in the market that could accelerate a transition from digital textbook-based learning to fully interactive and adaptive courseware. After completing that effort, offering a strategy and recommendation, I returned to a more traditional product management role, directing efforts by external user experience and software development firms to redesign how students and faculty discovered or built and used Wiley’s deep reserve of specialty assessment items, learning instruments and topical resources to master the material taught and improve outcomes.
I began my tenure here elaborating on the analysis and reporting of student learning outcomes across undergraduate programs both for higher education institutions and associations and then led efforts to redesign another solution for customers to prepare and execute plans for improving program and institutional outcomes and collate evidence of their value for accreditors and the public.
Schoolnet offers school districts and state departments of education with a solution for assessment authoring and delivery, instructional management and sophisticated reporting. I led multiple scrum teams that were co-located or offshore in each of these areas of Schoolnet’s classic mission, but began and spent the first two years of my tenure focusing on growing its standards-based Educator Development Suite, when President Obama’s Race to the Top initiative and investments by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation focused national attention and funding on Student Growth and other structured measures of educator effectiveness.
kgbdeals provided savings directly to consumers both by working with merchants directly and by enabling consumers to initiate and bring deals to their communities through our website. As Product Manager, I worked with kgb leadership and stakeholders to define a vision of kgbdeals.com and its services and worked with information technology to execute that vision and to add and improve features for stakeholders to meet the goals of the business.
