I continue to support our efforts for cleaner energy with development of our BESS and Microgrid projects. I support safety improvements in our Strategic Undergrounding of backcountry distribution circuits. I continue to support reliability projects with equipment replacements, substation development and expansion, and related projects. From this foundation, I have pivoted into the utility engineering space. For the past eight years I have been a valued team member for San Diego Gas & Electric both as a consultant and more recently as an internal team member. I have had the opportunity to contribute to a number of spectacular projects. Two that come to mind include the $2 Billion, 117 mile long, 230kV / 500kV Sunrise Powerlink Project and the more recent 30MW / 120MWh Emergency (Battery Energy) Storage project (the largest of its kind in the world at the time) in Escondido, California. After leaving an incredible consulting, construction management team, I have joined SDG&E as a Senior Engineer in the substation group of the Civil Structural Engineering team.
I have been providing Resident Engineering and Construction Management skills and services since 2010. These skills have been built on a solid foundation that includes more than 20 years of valuable experience as a California licensed civil and geotechnical engineer. Most of this recent experience has been with client San Diego Gas & Electric. I served nearly two years on the $2 Billion Sunrise Powerlink project as quality assurance manager for the drilled shafts of this 117 mile, 500kV and 230kV transmission line. Additional services included engineering oversight on portions of the micropile foundations, on the stub angle layouts of the towers, and on the grounding operations of proximate fences and other conductive elements along the alignment. More recently, I have invested 3.5 years on what will be a 4.5 year long, four phase, $80 million rebuild of the 138-69-12kV Los Coches Substation in Lakeside, California. This work has been with the Civil Structural Engineering team. The role has included Resident Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, and Site Management duties. In addition to the utility work, I also served on SANDAG / NCTD Sorrento to Miramar Double Track project in San Diego. My primary role here was in providing engineering quality assurance oversight during construction of over 3,500 feet of soldier pile and tieback walls. Work included oversight during drilled shaft excavation, setting soldier piles, and installation and testing of the tiebacks. I worked with the San Diego County Water Authority where structural improvements were being made to the Emergency Storage Project Pump House at Lake Hodges. My role there was as an assistant Resident Engineer and structural inspector overseeing work. Other recent work includes roles with Caltrans District 11 projects in Imperial County where I oversaw construction of HMA pavement overlays, HMA patching, and construction of Caltrans Type 60 concrete barriers, and other improvements.
As Vice President and Principal Engineer with Solid Rock, I wasresponsible for technical aspects of the company's prosperity. I directed and performed\ engineering evaluations, trained and supervised technical staff, and reviewed technical work performed by others. I also assisted with business development, client management, and related critical but non-technical aspects of our success.
When I started at this firm, it was simply a small inspection agency that provided high quality DSA (public school) inspections and supporting ICC certified special inspections to a select number of clients. As Vice President and Principal Engineer I developed the laboratory operations, including equipment acquisition, equipment calibrations, and navigating and acquiring CCRL, AMRL, City of San Diego and DSA lab certifications. I also developed the engineering department that grew to provide geotechnical and materials engineering services to education, military, water and waste water, transportation, commercial and residential sectors. During my tenure the firm grew from less than 10 inspectors to more than 30 engineers, inspectors and and technicians. We quadrupled revenue from less than $1 Million annually to more than $3 Million annually.
A solid company that provides geotechnical engineering, materials engineering, construction inspection and lab testing. Primary markets were the military market and private commercial clients. While I was there I was the senior engineer that oversaw the lab testing operations. To that end I was responsible for lab equipment calibration, participation with CCRL and AMRL as well as other proficiency programs, and related services. I also performed geotechnical engineering, materials engineering and forensic evaluations for our clients.
