Doug has been an insurance professional for 46 years. He began his insurance career in 1968 as a claims manager for The Insurance Company of North America (INA), now CIGNA. During his 13 years with INA he was responsible for the overall operation of the Kentucky claims office servicing 63 counties including large self-funded clients Ashland Oil and Ford Motor. In 1981 he managed the Kentucky operations of Hall Risk Management Services, a Subsidiary of Frank B Hall, a risk management company that provided marketing, reinsurance, claims administration, loss control, premium billing, auditing, and statistical services to their clients including the Associated General Contractors of Kentucky (AGC-SIF). In 1984 Doug was hired by Professional Administrators Limited (PAL), an employee benefit administration firm, to start a risk management company to develop & service self-funded programs for their clients in Kentucky & Indiana. As part of this operation he was also responsible for establishing and managing for 8 years a successful independent insurance agency (Action Insurance Agency). In 1991 Doug was hired by The Neal Group, a large Indiana independent insurance agency, to be responsible for their Kentucky operation servicing their commercial,personal, & employee benefit clients. During that time he developed the largest book of day care insurance in Kentucky. Doug merged with McGowan Insurance Group in 2008 continuing to service his day care business and other commercial clients. To better service the Kentucky clients the Kentucky book of business was sold to Al Torstrick Insurance in Lexington, KY October 1, 2012 with Doug continuing to provide excellent service for his clients.
