- Support CDPH’s mission in protecting the public's health and helping shape positive health outcomes for individuals, families and communities in California - Lead risk communications activities for the Office of Communications in the absence of the Risk Communications Specialist (Information Officer II) - Assist in the production and dissemination of daily news clips and daily and weekly reports - Help with strategic planning by performing the more difficult professional and technical tasks associated with the conduct of a comprehensive program to inform the public of the activities and objectives of CDPH - Communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with internal programs on public health messaging and respond to media inquiries regarding public health issues in a timely manner - Act as a liaison between program representatives/managers and media representatives or the public - Arrange media events, interviews and press conferences. (This includes collecting, evaluating and distributing information from outside sources to CDPH staff; and assisting CDPH program spokespersons in preparing for such events.) - Plan, write, edit and disseminate information materials (press releases, media advisories, press packets) about public health issues and policies to local and statewide media - Research and write briefing materials for the Director's Office and CDPH - Respond to requests for information from other departments and the Health and Human Services Agency - Develop and maintain knowledge and skill related to specific tasks, methodologies, materials, tools, and equipment
- Research, write and edit scripts for informational stories about local businesses, consumer safety, affordable housing in California, state and federal response to the COVID-19 pandemic - Produce live interviews with community leaders and officials to discuss topics, such as, combating homelessness, creating more affordable housing solutions, helping local businesses and consumers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic - Create videos, graphics and soundbites depicting activities at the state capitol and local courthouses - Deliver breaking news and develop stories with rapid turnaround to meet tight deadlines
- Produce hourly live newscasts between 4:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Work with directors, editors and talent to make sure live shows run smoothly - Identify, write and produce quality news stories in AP Style - Write breaking news stories under tight deadlines
- Contribute to the daily production of quality news stories by writing fast and accurate scripts - Evaluate local, state and national/international stories using news websites, resources, and social media - Maintaining professional relationships with news team and management
Hmong Youth and Parents United (HYPU) was established in 2008 and revitalized in 2012 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization to provide culturally sensitive resources and services to the Hmong and other communities in Sacramento. HYPU is committed to assisting the underserved communities in attaining the highest practicable quality of life and thrive in the areas of family, health, and education. - Write, create and send out monthly newsletters using MailChimp - Write and send out press leases for HYPU's monthly events, as well as, participating in outreach campaigns - Maintain professional communication within the organization and partners - Create promotional graphics and content on Canva to post on HYPU's social media platforms, such as, Facebook and Instagram - Write and manage current events and services on HYPU's website weekly - Plan, manage and execute two community events monthly for more than 100 people per event
The signature event of the Sacramento Asian Pacific Cultural Village, Sacramento Asian Pacific Film Festival, serves alongside a continuum of events and programming in support of traditional and contemporary Asian and Pacific Islander artistic expression within the Sacramento Region. Since 2013, SAPFF has featured the works of Asian Pacific Islanders that explore the API immigrant and refugee experience in America, and common struggles for justice and equality. Responsibilities include: - Produce over 20 festival hours featuring the works of Asian Pacific Islanders in independent film making, annually - Provide the Asian Pacific Islander immigrant and refugee experience through film to more than 200 people per year - Raise awareness of Asian Pacific Islander common struggles for justice and equality in America through eye-opening panel discussions
