Wide and varied professional experience from retail manager/sales, amusement park manager, electronic repair, electromechanical repair, amusement device repair/restoration, live sound reinforcement, bartender, and full time bicycle safety consultant, GIS Technician, and now a Union Journeyman Stagehand and Technician for I.A.T.S.E. Local 85 and Apprentice Arena Rigger. Goals - would be to make a fulltime living in bicycle safety consulting, advocacy and coaching for racing, training, recreational riding, and commuting for transportation cycling, with an emphasis on working with cities, schools, businesses, and civic groups to make cycling safer in their communities with a side gig to supplement the income and down time is being a Stagehand/Rigger working in the concert and theatre industry. Specialties: Management, electronic repair, bartending, and anything with bicycles and bicycling, bands and band related gear.
I just recently, June of 2017, went back to pursue another interest of mine that I worked in post High School and in college - as a Stagehand working with Live Sound Reinforcement. In other words, putting together a stage, lighting, video, and audio, along with sound check and rehearsal, put the show on, then tear it all down, box it up, and put it back on the truck, ready for the next show. Hoping to get back to the where I was in college, learning control consoles for live show reproduction for audio, lights and, now video, as well as repair of the equipment that goes along with it both electronic and electromechanical. Working now mostly as a traveling Stagehand in a 12 hour radius of the Quad Cities - Davenport & Bettendorf, IA and Rock Island & Moline, IL. From Aug 2018 on, I have also been working on my Up and Down Rigging skills as well as learning rope safety rescue training.
I started on Jan 15, 2015 as the Quad City areas first Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator as an Independent Consultant on contract with Bettendorf, IA. I will work with the city in areas of Engineering, Education, Enforcement, Evaluation, Event Planning and more. Very excited to be the areas FIRST!!
I am now the Director of Operations for the Quad Cities Triathlon, working with Eric Sarno. I will be handling the registration duties as well as a lot of the day to day items that need to be done for an event such as the QC Tri.
Teaching new instructors and cyclists how to safely ride a bicycle in all situations concerning on-road cycling in traffic.
Working with schools on bicycle safety as an educator and presenter doing assemblies and bicycle rodeos, working with cities on master transportation planning to include bicycle and pedestrian facilities, working with bicycling events like races and tours to promote safety, and helping cyclists achieve their goals through coaching on all aspects of bicycle riding and training.
I first started off finishing the League of Illinois Bicyclists contract on the Bike to Metra Guides as a self taught GIS Tech. Now I am working on the fourth revision of the Quad Cities Bicycle Metro Map; sales and sponsorships, data collection, and the actual building of the map in Arc GIS 10.2.
