I have experience working with a diverse range of children and their families. I have worked with students who are medically fragile, have autism (mild-severe), Down syndrome, ADHD, dyslexia, Specific Learning Disability, etc. i have assessed students from Preschool to Adult Transition age groups. I have also led meeting where lawyers and/or advocates were in attendance. My favorite part of this job is advocating for children. As a Specialist, I have worked with families and the district to appropriately place students in Nonpublic Schools and Residential Treatment Centers. I have been the case carrier for these students. I have competed IEP documents and have been the Admin Designee in a variety of IEP meetings ranging from preschool to ATP.
Example of duties: - serve as a member of the District Management Team - plan, implement, and evaluate staff development activities - carry out research to aid in introduction of program in schools in the areas of behavior management, testing and guidance, and teaching strategies - Specialist for students placed in Non-Public Schools (NPSs) and Residential Treatment Centers (RTCs)
Assess students to see if they qualify for specially designed instruction. Assessments include: observations, cognitive and academic testing, parent/student/teacher interviews, and file reviews. Provide individual and group counsling. Member of the RTI Behavior and Academic teams. Provide and implement academic and behavior interventions.
