I am an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, with specialisms in stress analysis and simulation, being well acquainted with top level analysis tools such as Abaqus, as well as first principals hand calculations. I have a wealth of experience from the industry of automotive / motorcycle design and manufacture. I am able to provide Engineering Consultancy services including design advice, benchmarking studies and analysis. I have experience in Data Analysis with R, including the development of interactive Shiny web-apps. Additionally, I dabble in software and web development, using Elixir / Phoenix.
As an elected member of the District Council, representing Logan Ward (Market Harborough), my role is one of advocating for local residents, ensuring the decisions of the council are robustly challenged, and bringing an outside perspective to discussions. I sit on the Communities Scrutiny Panel, which looks at things such as policing; and the Climate Emergency Working Group, in which I have been contributing to the District’s plan to reduce it’s impact on the environment.
Working in an in-house consultancy role, I led a small team of simulation specialists, with a focus on FEA. We carried out analysis in support of new model design and development teams. Jobs varied from structured, pre-planned work to ad-hoc responses to testing. Procedure creation and report writing formed an integral part of the workload. I was Subject Matter Expert for FEA, and chair of the FEA Working Group. I was also involved in the recruitment process, representing Triumph at careers fairs and interviewing applicants for Student Placement and Graduate positions.
