Daniel is Associate Professor (Practice) in Carbon Markets at the Nanyang Business School. Before transitioning to academia full-time, he spent close to 18 years in industry where he undertook a variety of roles across the Energy and Decarbonization value chains, including Commodity Trading, Acquisitions & Divestments, and Capital Project Delivery. Previous adjunct teaching appointments include Shell's in-house Advanced Negotiation Program; Integrated Gas Agreements Course; and leading the delivery of its Natural Gas Course. He has lived and worked in the UK and Singapore whilst leading negotiations/projects in various jurisdictions such as Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan and Thailand. His current teaching focus areas include both the topics of Climate Risk and Carbon Markets, which he delivers at the Undergraduate, Post-Graduate and Executive Education levels respectively.

New Business Development: Led Shell’s Nature Based Solutions (a forestry based offsets initiative) entry into Peninsular Malaysia, securing a partnership arrangement with a State Government for potential carbon projects within the state; Led Shell’s LNG Trading market entry efforts into Pakistan by securing a Heads of Agreement for regasification access into a LNG terminal; Served on the Management Committee for PEG, a Pakistan incorporated JV as Shell’s shareholder representative; 2. Gas to Power; LNG Regasification: Secured Shell’s shortlisting and eventual selection as Singapore’s LNG importer (1 mtpa) in a competitive tender by the Government of Singapore; Successfully led negotiations with a counterparty to secure 20-year option to supply regasified LNG via tolling/balancing arrangements; Developed commercial arrangements for and progressed LNG regasification projects in the Philippines and China. 2. Large Scale LNG Supply Projects: A key commercial team member across multiple LNG Supply initiatives including the acquisition of Elk/Antelope gas discoveries in Papua New Guinea; conclusion of the Joint Operating Agreement and Lifting & Balancing principles (Canada); development of a Facilities Sharing Agreements and Lifting & Balancing Agreements (Australia); and reviewing gas/LNG pricing mechanisms for (Australia, South East Asia).
