Dirk-Jan ‘DJ’ van Hameren has more than 30 years of executive global brand leadership and stewardship at Nike, spanning brand strategy, brand & product management, business management, and team leadership. He has broad experience across a multitude of geographies, territories, cities, teams, functions, categories and business. With half of his NIKE tenure in brand marketing, including serving six years as CMO, and the other half in various global and GEO business leadership roles. He is a natural consumerist who understands youth and sports culture at a global scale. His expertise includes building, resetting, leading, and growing local, regional, and global teams across various functions such as; brand marketing, brand planning, product management, athlete & influencer management, operations, account management, digital and brick & mortar marketplace management, creative studios, concept ideation, merchandising, strategy, and finance. Experience and change management skillset through number of brand and business turnaround moments. Currently, DJ is Chief Marketing Officer at WHOOP, helping more people live healthier, longer lives by bringing the world's leading personalized health and performance platform to millions around the globe. DJ is also the former partner and co-founder of ‘Superconnector Sports’, an industry leading brand entertainment agency. He is the founder and principal of ‘Mailroom Marathon 7’ which specializes in Brand Strategy – Brand Management– Brand Marketing and Business Management advisory. He is also Operating Advisor at ‘Arctos Partners’, a private investment firm that provides bespoke growth capital and liquidity solutions to sports franchises (Arctos Sports) and alternative asset managers (Arctos Keystone). He has been a professional track cyclist and a two-time Olympian, representing the Netherlands on the velodrome in the 1992 Barcelona and 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
