As a specialist psychologist within a high demand environment I had the privilege of working alongside caseworkers in supporting, assessing and treating children and young people with significant trauma histories, and supporting birth parents, carers and foster carers through trauma informed approaches. I provided specialist consultation to caseworkers and casework managers to support casework on psychological, developmental, emotional and behaviour management in children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, their birth parents and carers. I conducted psychological, developmental, behavioural and functional assessments to identify areas of need, develop behaviour support plans, treatment plans and provide evidence informed interventions for children and young people with significant trauma histories. I supported staff, foster carers, parents and external agencies in relation to trauma and other issues relevant to a child/young person’s exposure to abuse and maltreatment.
