Risch, Zug, Switzerland
My career started in a customer support centre in South Africa, where I worked as an internet support consultant. Since then, I’ve built and run a successful IT services company, managed logistics and after-sales operations in London, led digital operations for JURA UK, and now work in Switzerland as Head of ERP for the JURA Group. This journey has given me hands-on experience across a wide range of business disciplines and a practical understanding of how technology, processes, and people need to work together to create real value. With a background in IT & Design, an MBA, and years of real-world business experience, I bring a combination of strategic thinking, operational understanding, and a strong appreciation for clear, effective communication. I enjoy working across cultures and functions, and I’m particularly motivated by bridging the gap between corporate direction and local business needs. I value open, constructive discussions — even when the topics are difficult — because that’s usually where the best progress is made. For me, strong working relationships matter just as much as good results. I believe work should be productive and, whenever possible, enjoyable too. I’m passionate about good design, practical business technology, and building solutions that respect users, budgets, and business goals. Coordinating limited resources across teams, countries, and priorities to deliver meaningful outcomes is something I genuinely enjoy — and one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
I lead the ERP landscape for the JURA Group, helping to make sure our systems support the business in a practical, scalable, and future-ready way. My role sits at the intersection of technology, process, and people — from shaping ERP strategy and steering international projects to improving day-to-day operations and keeping teams aligned across markets. I work closely with business stakeholders, local affiliates, and technical teams to turn requirements into workable solutions, drive continuous improvement, and keep priorities focused on what creates real value. A big part of the job is also building structure: governance, roadmap planning, deployment coordination, quality assurance, and making sure change happens in a way the business can actually absorb. In short: I help make ERP less bureaucratic, more useful, and better connected to how the business really works.
After working with JURA in the UK for 16 years, I was part of the team making digital transformation real for the worldwide group. My primary focus was to manage the implementation of new systems and processes inline with our corporate strategy. A worldwide transformation of our ERP systems filled my days. It was a highly satisfying role having to use my skills and experience to balance a wide range of stakeholder interests, criteria, cultures and requirements. I analysed systems and business processes, and proposed, designed and implemented useful solutions which brought about positive, sensible changes. Effective communication was key, not only within our team, but especially across borders. Being interested in cultures, understanding what each values and how they make decisions, helped me to build close working relationships. This is possibly the most valuable skill of mine which helped me to be successful in this role. I took great pleasure in identifying areas in business where a process could be improved with technology and then designing a solution, implementing it and seeing the results. This required a holistic approach with a balance of technical, managerial, business and interpersonal skills and knowledge, something I do well and am proud of.
With over 20 years experience in managing logistics, after sales, IT and digital operations, combined with a BSc (Honours) degree in IT & Design, equips me with a unique and powerful set of skills. My ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and solutions to a variety of audiences not completely familiar with IT related topics is a skill which my international peers regularly highlight and compliment. During my time at JURA UK I managed the successful implementation of two different ERP systems, a CRM solution, complete IT infrastructure renewal and a fully integrated electronic document management system. I also used technology to improve customer service through innovative solutions such as empowering our customers and customer service team with an intuitive multimedia interaction tool. My successful campaigning to embrace customer engagement through social media and offering more options through ecommerce also had a positive impact on brand awareness and sales. I was instrumental in making JURA UK's digital vision a reality by designing and implementing solutions to drive us there. JURA UK's turnover has increased by more than 600% during my time which demanded maximum efficiency and productivity from our IT systems. JURA's head office is in Switzerland. During my time in the UK I had a close working relationship with my Swiss colleagues and participated in successfully delivering international projects. I overcome the unique challenges this brings by making an effort to understand and appreciate the different perspectives, constraints and requirements, and always try to maintain a healthy and objective view of the different stakeholders.
I was responsible for managing import and distribution logistics for the UK. After sales service and IT infrastructure support were also included in my remit. As the company grew, I established offsite distribution facilities. To efficiently manage remote distribution, I collaborated with my brother to develop an online interface, enabling our office and warehouse teams to oversee imports, UK distribution, and exports remotely. What makes this significant is that this was during a time when online logistics management services were not common yet. I also integrated this system with our accounting platform to streamline operations. With a small team of five, we prioritized flexibility and teamwork to provide excellent after-sales customer service. I took great pride in the accomplishments of our department and our good reputation.
My brother and I founded this business with the shared vision of delivering outstanding customer service in the IT industry. I concentrated on providing consultation, sales, administration, and maintenance services of IT infrastructure, while my brother specialised in web solutions. Our business experienced rapid growth in a town where there was a strong need for reliable and trustworthy IT support services. My personal commitment was to go beyond customer expectations by delivering solutions that surpassed their needs and ensured repeat business. This customer-centric approach proved highly successful, and within a few months, we earned a reputable standing in the area.
Technical support consultant, assisting end users with analogue and ISDN subscriptions. I also supported our corporate customers with Fortinet's FortiGate e-mail solution. This was the start of my career in IT after completing Microsoft's MCSE qualification in NT4.0.
