I began my internship by supporting the technical services and safety departments focusing on ventilation surveys environmental monitoring and general mine safety practices I gained hands-on experience in underground mining operations including belt extensions material handling and workplace inspections I worked closely with the VOHE and engineering teams to understand key aspects of safe and efficient mine operations I transitioned to the production department where I am now actively involved in daily coal production activities I assist with section inspections face preparation support installation and learning how to manage a production section effectively under the guidance of a production supervisor This role is enhancing my understanding of operational leadership crew coordination and short interval control in underground coal mining
