I am an Engineer holding B.Eng (Civil) and B.Sc Geoinformatics degrees from the University of Stellenbosch. Currently I am employed in a project management position at Fugro Qatar. Since first employment experience was gained working in various countries in the Middle East and Africa with exposure to multi-disciplinary projects in the infrastructure, mining and onshore/offshore oil & gas environments
In my role as a Senior Project Manager I am responsible for the following: » Taking ownership of HSE performance and advancing Fugro HSE culture to project team and subcontractors » Planning and managing the execution of multi-disciplinary projects including the following; - Hydrogeological studies and groundwater monitoring projects - Pumping tests - Geotechnical Investigations and related reporting and analysis - Topographical & settlement surveys - Geophysical studies using both active and passive technologies - Pavement evaluation studies using automated road analyser technologies » Financial reporting & cost control of projects » Maintaining planned profit margins » Preparing weekly and monthly progress reports » Preparing project management plans » Assist senior management with annual budgets » Provide input to project costing and proposals » Managing of all land asset integrity personnel, including annual performance reviews » Client Liaison (QatarEnergy, Shell, Qatalum, Qatar Gas, Ashghal, North Oil Company, Saipem)
Working within the water and geotechnical engineering business units being involved with the design and execution of multi-disciplinary projects mainly within the mining and oil & gas industries.
While working as a Geotechnical Engineer at PRDW the main responsibilities were to oversee and conduct the geotechnical work packages on all projects. This included the planning and supervision of site investigations in both South Africa and Mozambique. Experience was also gained in the design of retaining structures and piled foundations. All design work was done according to Eurocode 7 in conjunction with BS codes for maritime works and API design codes for deep foundations. Numerical analysis (PLAXIS 2D 2012 & AE) work included retaining structure design, pile design, deformation analysis, bearing capacity analysis, and stability analysis with a good understanding of the various constitutive material models and modelling methodology. Where applicable the analyses were also done according to the Eurocode 7 principles. Other responsibilities included technical report writing, materials assessments for dredging and reclamation projects, supervision of DTM volume calculation for dredging projects, liquefaction assessments in potentially seismically active areas according to NCEER principles, interpretations of CPTu tests. A good working knowledge of the software packages CPeT-IT, LiqIT, SoFA, GeoStudio 2012 (Slope/W & Sigma/W), DC-Bearing, RocLab, LPILE, D-Sheet Piling and PLAXIS 2D (2012 & AE versions) have been obtained.
