Started my Academic career as a Biomedical Scientist with experience in cardiovascular physiology and redox biology. I have also conducted research in Blood transfusion, Vascular Disease and Research Development among others. I have been involved in Higher Education management and Research ethics for several years. Among my management roles are oversight of the Faculty Research Office and the Faculty Research Ethics Committee, as well as Chairing Faculty Higher Degrees Committee and Institutional Animal Ethics Committee. I have lectured research methodology, statistics, physiology and integrated pathophysiology. In addition I offer research development activities for staff and postgraduate students in my faculty. I have also been a member of the Western Cape Provincial Health Research Committee for some time now. In addition I am a member of the SA Heart society and serve on the executive of it's SASCAR interest group for basic scientists. I am also a recently COMENSA credentialed coach, who believes in conducting supervision and staff development, using the coaching way.
