    Sunkoshi Marin Diversion Multipurpose Project (SMDMP), a national pride status project, is an inter-basin water transfer project which envisages diverting part of the flow from Sunkoshi River to the Marin River, a tributary of Bagmati River by means of a water transfer headrace tunnel with a particularity to be excavated by TBM, tunnel boring machine. The flow will be discharged to the Bagmati Irrigation System to irrigate additional 76,400 ha of land in Rautahat, Dhanusha, Mahottari, Sarlahi and Bara districts of Province No. 2 (Madhesh Pradesh), i.e. to the Bagmati River Basin, with the goal of augmenting the lean season flow being fed into the irrigation system, and in addition an installed power capacity of 31 MW, in order to supply additional hydropower energy generated to the region of 272.15 GWh, taking advantage of a head of 64 m with a design flow of 67 m3/s. Main project details are: - Concrete gravity dam composed of a gated spillway with 06 radial gates of 15-m-width each, and a undersluice of 02 radial gates of 10-m-width each for design flood of Tr10000years = 10058 m3/s. - Inatke of 04 openings for a design flow of 73,70 m3/s - Desander chamber of 02 bays of 115-m-length each, sediment flushing discharge of 6,70 m3/s. - Power intake for a design flow of 67 m3/s. - Headrace tunnel of 13,5-km-length, 6,50-m-excavated diameter, 5,50-m-inneer diameter, concrete segment lining for rock types III, IV and V, including squeezing and rock bursting.     Consulting Services for Independent Review of Detailed Design of 126 MW Lower Seti - Tanahu Hydropower Project - Tanahu Hydropower Ltd, Kathmandu / Asian Development Bank Lower Seti (Tanahu) Hydroelectric Project has been conceived as a Peaking Run-of-River (PROR) type scheme with the installed capacity of 126 MW. The major civil components of the project are as follows: - Headworks consisting of a gated dam and a side intake at the right bank. The crest length of the dam is 200 m with four radial gates in order to pass the design maximum flood (1 in 10,000) of 7779 m3/s. The height of dam including foundation is 45 m. There will be two numbers of intakes of size 8 m x 12 m each. - A two chambered underground desilting basin of 180.5 m x 16.5 m x 20.5 m size to trap silt/sand particles larger than 0.2 mm. - 5,5 km water conveyance system consisting of inverted D-shaped headrace tunnel of 8 m diameter. - A surge shaft of 18 m diameter and 56 m height. - A vertical drop shaft of 80 m height and 7.2 m in diameter. - A steel penstock of 6.5 m diameter and 100 m length including bifurcation. - A surface type powerhouse of size 60 m x 24 m x 43 m, with two Francis type turbine units of rated installed power of 53,30 MW each - A tailrace canal of length 250 m for water releases back to Trishuli River. - The energy generated from the project will be injected to the Damauli- Bharatpur transmission line to be constructed by Tanahu Hydropower Limited with the switching arrangements.
