About

Empowering 2 Billion Muslims Through Ethical Finance As the CEO of Hijra, Indonesia’s leading Islamic challenger bank, I’m on a mission to build user-centric, Sharia-compliant financial technology that serves the 2 billion Muslims globally—starting from Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation with over 230 million Muslims. Hijra stands at the intersection of Islamic finance and socially responsible innovation. We believe Sharia finance—rooted in ethics, transparency, fairness, and strong governance—is not just for Muslims, but for anyone who values principled finance. Our aim is to redefine how people engage with money: with purpose, trust, and impact. Our group’s vision is to build a fair and inclusive financial system through technology—empowering individuals and businesses often left out of the conventional banking landscape, while upholding values that promote long-term societal benefit. Prior to building Hijra, I spent a decade in investment banking as Vice President at Société Générale and Citi, advising clients in the energy, mining, infrastructure, telecommunications, and consumer sectors. I hold an Executive MBA from INSEAD, where the seeds of my entrepreneurial journey were planted—leading to the founding of ALAMI, and eventually, Hijra.
