Creative, Designer, Researcher, Consultant, Educator and Learner: looking forward to positive change! I have worked in several research, teaching, and project management positions at: the Faculty of Arts, Aarhus University, Denmark; the University of the West of England, UK; the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong, HK SAR; the University of Lisbon, Portugal; the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Spain; and the Faculty of Engineering and Environment, Northumbria University, UK, working for the UK Government Office for Science/Future of Cities Foresight Project. Also, I am the newest member of the editorial board and social media editor of the Nexus Network Journal, in the fields of architecture and mathematics, published by Springer Nature, ranked by Scimago as Q1 in Architecture and recognized by Editorial Excellence in 2024, 2023, and 2021. Regularly, I have been scientific reviewer for academic journals (eg. Architectural Science Review, Journal of Asian Architecture and Building) and member of scientific committees for the conferences: eCAADe 2022 at KU Leuven; CAAD Futures 2023 at TU Delft; eCAADe 2023 at TU Graz; ECREA 2024 at the University of Ljubljana; eCAADe 2024 at the University of Cyprus; eCAADe 2025 at Middle East Technical University, Ankara; HCI International 2025 in Gothenburg; and Video Games Cultures 2025 at Charles University in Prague. Overall, I have studied and worked for international universities and award-winning practices on urbanism, architecture, design, art, software, and higher education in Europe (Lisbon, Barcelona, Bristol, Rome, Aarhus, Eindhoven) and Asia (Macau, Hong Kong), through multiple languages (English, Portuguese, French, Italian, Spanish, Chinese) within international environments and multiculturally diverse teams. In-person or online, I have presented and exhibited my work in Belgium, Canada, China, Czechia, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, México, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, UK, and USA. Lifelong learner, creative thinker, and problem solver, I'm interested in interdisciplinary and collaborative research, projects, and teaching on: sustability; climate change; futures studies and scenarios; digitalization; circularity; human-computer interaction; machine learning and artificial intelligence; user experience; data visualization; theory, history and practice of computational art, design, and architecture; participatory processes and community engagement; open data and repositories; hand drawing; creativity; innovation; STS; and international networks.
Design of (hybrid) inclusive spaces.
Young Scholars Network of ECREA (YECREA) Representative of the Media, Cities and Space Section, including communications and outreach. As YECREA Rep, I co-organized with S. Rogers (Birkbeck, University of London), M. Dias (Dublin City University), and L. T. Brandner (University of Tübingen), the international conference ‘The Synthetic City: Exploring the impact of AI and digital media on urban living’, hosted by the ECREA Media, Cities and Space Section, and Dublin City University, Dublin, Ireland, in 2023.
Nexus Network Journal (NNJ) is a peer-reviewed research resource for studies in architecture and mathematics, published by Springer Nature. My main tasks include: • Developing strategies that support open access and broad dissemination of research articles in the fields of mathematics and architecture, particularly through the website and social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram,); • As part of the leadership team, the NNJ achieved the following recognitions since 2019: (1) a Q1 in visual arts by Scimago for five consecutive years and a Q1 in architecture since 2023, i.e. a first quartile, in the top 25% of all journals in that subject area; (2) recognised for editorial excellence by Springer Nature in 2023, 2021, and 2020; (3) ranked number 2 in the Springer Mathematics journals catalogue for downloads in the year 2020; and (4) ranked a top publication in social sciences/ architecture by Google Scholar between 2019 and 2020.
As a freelance creative technologist, researcher and designer since 2011, alongside and between my research contracts with academic institutions in Europe and Asia, I have worked on generative artificial intelligence (AI), computational art, community engagement with digital tools, user research (UX/UI), graphic, interaction and web design, social media, video, photography, and translation and editorial services for public and private institutions (e.g., UN-Habitat/Urban Thinkers Campus Initiative, ECREA, Slow Food, KU Leuven, University of Lisbon, Kim Williams Books, Nexus Network Journal, Nexus Association, and Confucius Institute Hanban).
