About

As a certified expert (DGuSV) for nanotechnology and functional surface coatings, I have been working for more than two decades on the development, evaluation and industrial implementation of ultra-thin, SiO₂-based coating systems (“Liquid Glass Technologies”). My work focuses on the scientific assessment and functional optimisation of surfaces across different substrates, including glass, metals, polymers, fibre-based materials and high-performance industrial surfaces. My expertise covers the full spectrum of ultra-thin coating technologies in the range of 5–100 nm, including: • functional surface engineering of photovoltaic module glass • nano-scale coatings for fibre-based paper and packaging materials • barrier enhancement and moisture resistance for sustainable packaging concepts • hygienic and low-adhesion coatings for contact surfaces • anti-contamination behaviour, reduced microbial adhesion and easy-to-clean properties • surface energy modification and wetting behaviour • material stability under industrial and environmental stressors A particular focus of my work lies in the functional optimisation of photovoltaic systems through SiO₂-based PV surface coatings, including: • improved light transmission and reduced reflection • self-cleaning and low-adhesion surface behaviour • passivation of microcracks and stress-induced surface defects • reduced temperature load and slowed degradation • extended cleaning cycles and reduced O&M costs In my professional capacity, I support industrial partners, operators, insurers and institutions through technical assessments, surface analysis, expert reports, long-term field evaluations and process reviews. My approach bridges material science, applied nanotechnology, quality assessment and the practical requirements of industry sectors such as photovoltaics, packaging, infrastructure and hygiene technologies.
