Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland
I work as a Health Data Scientist & Project Manager at University Hospital Zurich, where I help turn clinical, microbiology and hospital process data into operational data products for infection prevention and control. My work sits at the interface between clinicians, infection prevention experts, laboratory informatics, IT/data engineering and hospital data platforms. I design and coordinate data pipelines, dashboards, reports and curated datasets that support surveillance of hospital-acquired infections such as HAP, CAUTI, CLABSI and SSI, as well as microbiology and antimicrobial stewardship use cases. A key part of my role is translating clinical surveillance requirements into robust, maintainable and quality-controlled data products: clarifying definitions, mapping source data, documenting assumptions, coordinating validation workflows and aligning technical implementation with clinical needs. This includes hospital-wide Power BI dashboards, recurrent data deliveries, longitudinal surveillance datasets and semi-automated review processes. In parallel, I work on applied AI and NLP use cases in clinical settings, especially the extraction of structured information from unstructured clinical text for retrospective analyses, semi-automated case review and future decision-support systems in infection prevention. I am currently pursuing an MSc in Data Science at Bern University of Applied Sciences, with a focus on data engineering, machine learning and health informatics. My goal is to build clinically meaningful data products that are not only technically robust, but also usable, governable and aligned with real hospital workflows.
