I am a highly motivated, results-driven, and optimistic individual. I hold a Doctorate in Engineering (EngD) in BioProduct Design and an M.Sc. Cum Laude in biochemistry and molecular cell biology. I have years of experience in the fields of molecular cell biology and GMP manufacturing, with a multi-disciplinary skill set in cell-culture techniques, large-scale fermentation practices, bioprocess design, centrifugation/clarification techniques, tech-transfers, process performance, and qualification (PPQ's), as well as research, documentation, and project management competencies. This allows me to work with a wide variety of STEM professionals in the industry. Furthermore, I'm just a happy guy :P
My core tasks as a Sr Manufacturing associate in Operations Cell Culture includes introducing, maintaining and improving production processes and system operations within Pre-culture, Fermentation and Bioreactor Assembly. In addition, we support manufacturing process specialists and operations' management. Tasks are performed in close cooperation with various internal and international departments of Janssen Biologics while maintaining strict cGMP, EHSS, and LEAN practices. Furthermore, I am involved in the rollout of a global initiative/project within Operations, introducing a new production standard into Preculture. Key tasks associated with the function of a Sr. Associate Manufacturing include: • Trained to navigate ETS, SAP and MES information systems • Support in EHSS and GMP practices • Support in the preparation of internal and external audits, as well as conducting follow-up actions. • Preparing and drafting Change Controls according to the Management of Change methodology. As well as performing procedures arising from Change Controls, Deviations, and CAPA programs. • Data collection, analysis, interpretation and drawing firm conclusions, i.e. Periodic Reviews. • Recognizing deviations and escalating through the right channels. • Project Mangement, identifying opportunities and risks, problem-solving and critical decisions. • The development and/or implementation of (Technical) Protocols and/or writing (Technical) Reports and (Technical) memos. • Performing (product) impact assessments • Drawing and modifying documents and supervising the adoption process in documentation systems. • Reviewing and implementing business improvement initiatives with a system controller or cell line. • Develop and provide training as a Qualified Trainer • Represent the department and act as a liaison to other departments • The training of new employees in the core and the routine activities of the department.
During my holiday in Cape Town South Africa, I shadowed Nicholas Bush, head brewer and engineer for the Drifter Brewing company. In total I spent 2 weeks helping manage and lead craft beer production at the brewery in Woodstock. During my time, I picked up a thorough understanding for the process of beer production and fermentation, as well as get a clear understanding of the industry challenges.
An internship position, were I was one organizer for the Amsterdam International Water Week (AIWW 2015) as well as a lobbyist for NL Business development within India. As organizer I was in a team responsible for 2 programs (sustainable ports and resilient cities), 3 delegations’ logistics and technical assistance for the AIWW conference. Regarding business development, the focus was to shorten ‘time to market’ for SMEs by creating a trade mission to India for Dutch water-sector companies looking to enter the Indian market. With the help of Hans Maas and Bart Jeroen Bierens, this was achieved by networking, implementing business development strategies and organizing information meetings and a final trade mission to India. In the end I attained an extensive network within the Dutch and Indian (New Delhi) public and private Water sectors, and the Trade mission was a success.
A significant proportion of the PDEng program is devoted to both group and individual design projects associated within an industrial context. In all cases, projects are financed and proposed either by large industry partners or smaller business developments. The focus is on the delivery of a systematic and quantitative argumentation for a final design solution. The PDEng-trainee combines the functions of project manager, technological expert and designer. The Industrial Design Project is certified through having an industrial principal and an coaching professor from the university.
