Transcribe physician dictated patient history, physical examination, procedures, laboratory/radiological results, and any other pertinent patient information relative to the patient’s encounter with the provider in the ED Facilitate the acquisition of diagnostic test results from ancillary departments and compile results for the ED provider review and action
- Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the Physician - Manage patient glasses and medication prescriptions, complete prior authorizations for medications, etc. - Perform pre-testing examinations and necessary testing based on patient’s history: auto-refraction, Retinal Nerve - Fiber layer imaging for glaucoma, test visual acuity, apply drops/medications, measure ocular pressure via tonometer, examine cornea by slit lamp, perform corneal pachymetry, obtain IOL (intraocular lens) measurements via IOL Master - Authorize and manage insurance eligibility for patients, prepare and organize charts for incoming patients - Manage inventories and orders and replenish medical supplies and materials - Schedule appointments, performs clinical tasks and complete appropriate forms (i.e. insurance referrals) as required
