Getting paid to develop software since 1997. Behind a keyboard since '88. Entrepreneur, Freelance, Team Lead, Individual Contributor, Trainer, Podcaster, Writer, Streamer. My only superpower: explain hard technical concepts in plain words. This allows me teach other developers or help people breaking into tech. Also, I'm a good translator between developers / tech staff and C-levels. Nowadays learning Rust, developing with Swift / SwiftUI and absorbing everything about Cloud Computing.
As part of the Direct Engagement group inside the DevRel Org at MongoDB, I've: - started the Developer Days program to run 1 day events full of workshops, coffee, knowledge and fun - designed the Labs being used at our 1st party events MongoDB .Local - run dozens of Schema Design Reviews, 1:1 engagements with teams to review their projects and specially DB schemas at the beginning so they can build the most performant app for the most demanding workloads. - helped leadership defining processes and automating some of those. - authoring Lab material used in our workshops
Working as Developer Advocate in MongoDB. Joined as Developer Advocate for the Mobile offering of MongoDB: Realm, been doing: - Sample apps for iOS in Swift / SwiftUI and React Native - Writing blog post for [MongoDB's Developer Center](https://www.mongodb.com/developer/author/diego-freniche/) - Recording Youtube videos in Spanish about iOS development - Speaking at conferences - Learning about things out of my comfort zone: Rust, Cloud, MongoDB, React Native - Running with Jorge Ortiz the Spanish UNICODE U+00D1 Podcast
Worked as Mobile Developer, starting with some Appcelerator Titanium Based iOS + Android Apps, written in CoffeeScript that needed some love. Then, moved into iOS native development working with Swift, Core Data and Sockets in Teamwork's Chat iOS App. Finally, worked in the Projects iOS app, using Swift, RxSwift, Realm and lots of Best Practices and tools.
